    Research Interests
    Effects of disturbance on forest ecosystem structure and function, regionalization of carbon, water and nutrient budgets for terrestrial ecosystems, biophysical controls on carbon assimilation and allocation in terrestrial ecosystems, nutrient circulation in natural and managed ecosystems, influences of natural and anthropogenic disturbances on soil carbon dynamics, comparison of resource use by evergreen and deciduous trees.

    On the Lighter Side
    Tom is married to Connie, and they have two girls (Kristen and Cathy), a Griffon named Clifford, a miniature schnauzer named Willie, five horses, and a ferret named Teddie. Hobbies include endurance horse racing and prairie restoration.
